The power of letting go

As you might know, I love my Qigong practice. It is the one thing I always do, even if I don’t have time to do anything. It helps me to relax at any time, even when I am under stress or way to busy.  I often get the question what qigong is and if it is better than a workout, such as running or going to the gym.

Quick answer: no it is not better, it is different. I do workout almost daily, I go to a ballet class or go to the gym. And I love it. I like to keep my body in shape and to have long and strong muscles so I can dance and do yoga without feeling stiff and sore.

Depending on what you want to achieve, energy work can be a much better option though. When you do energy work, you go straight to the core of it all. In the end, everything is energy, and when things are right on that level, they are right on a physical level.

Three golden rules

One thing that I have learned in my in my Qigong and Tai Chi Chuan lessons (given by the same Grandmaster) and that has helped me tremendously in all forms of workout:

There are three golden rules:
Rule #1. To relax.
Rule #2. To relax.
Rule #3. To relax. 

This may sound silly, but really, it works! How often do we do things while being stressed? It doesn’t matter if it is lifting weights in the gym while holding breath and having our face turning purple, or working towards a deadline and getting all hyped up on coffee and other stress hormones.

When you relax while doing something, your energy can flow freely. Meaning, you are not exhausting yourself, but you will feel energized during and after whatever you were doing.


So if there is one thing that you can take away from today’s email, it is to take a deep breath and relax, soften, worry less and again, relax – whatever you are doing.
